Names of the candidates will appear on
the ballot in the order

Cheryl Westlund
Office Support Specialist
I am an Office Support Specialist with the College of Law. Before joining
the College of Law I worked for 11 years in the Northeast Regional Office of the
U of I Extension in Cook County and 1 year with Extension on the
Champaign-Urbana campus. I have always been active with AFSCME Local 3700,
serving as an elected officer and steward. I am a community service
volunteer in and around the Champaign area. Some of my volunteer activities
include multiple food distributions coordinated through the United Way, and
organization of a drive to collect toiletries for delivery to local women's
groups. I believe the Civil Service employees need a strong advocate, and as a
member of the Staff Advisory Council, I will serve you, the Civil Service
employee, and be your voice to the University.
Jan Glosser
Office Administrator
I am employed with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics as an Office
Administrator at Irwin Academics. I began my career at the University in July
1994 as extra help before being hired full-time in January 1995 by Conferences
and Institutes as a program secretary. On October 1, 1995, I transferred to the
Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and worked for the Atkins Tennis Center
and Illinois Tennis working directly with Coach Craig Tiley. I am an honors
graduate of Parkland College and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Currently, I am
continuing my education through the Adult Re-entry Program at Eastern Illinois
University majoring in General Studies and Management.
This is my first attempt at running for an office, but I feel that with my experience in the private sector as an office manager and since coming to the University of Illinois, I have gained experience and knowledge in the needs of the employee as well as the University. I look forward to having the opportunity to service as a Clerical/Secretarial Representative on the Staff Advisory Council.
Regina Cook
Office Support Specialist
Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Regina Cook,
Office Support Specialist, at the Department of Industrial and Enterprise
Systems Engineering (IESE). I chose Illinois as my preferred place of employment
because of its reputation for excellence both from an academic perspective but
also as a well-respected area employer. Since my arrival at IESE two years ago,
I have enjoyed the good fortune of working with exceptionally gifted
faculty, incredibly intelligent students, and the many outstanding staff from
all four corners that comprise the University of Illinois. Because it is my
intention to work on campus for many years to come, I have a keen interest in
learning more about the ways in which the University operates, and I have a
great desire to contribute my skills in a manner that would benefit the Staff
Advisory Committee. I appreciate your consideration of my request, and I thank you
for your time.
Janet M. Davis
Office Administrator
In August, I will be employed by the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign for 18 years. I started as an extra help employee and now I am
an Office Administrator in the American Indian Studies Program/Native American
House. Through my years at the University I have served on several committees,
including the Grad College Administrative Advisory Group, the Foreign Languages
Building Planning Committee and was President of the Secretariat in 2003-04. I
am now serving on the State University Retirement System (SURS) Advisory Board,
Staff Advisory Council representing SURS, Illini Union Board (IUB), and I am the
new secretary for the University of Illinois Employees Advisory Council, (UIEAC).
Being on all of these and other committees, I have learned a lot from employees.
I have listened and learned what your concerns are. If elected, I will bring
these matters to the Staff Advisory Council. With me you will have a voice. I
feel I am prepared to take on the responsibility and ready to serve the
clerical/secretarial constituents.
